Avdel® Blind Fastening Systems

Avdel® fasteners are predominantly "blind fasteners". This means access is needed from only one side of the work piece when they are installed. They provide a quick and simple, mechanical fastening alternative to welding, clinching, adhesion, nuts, bolts, washers and self-tapping screws.

Avdel® blind fasteners are normally handled as a single-piece assembly located in a placing tool prior to installation. When placed the fastener deforms on the "blind" or rear side of the material clamping two or more sheets together to provide a secure joint.

Designed for a rapid rate of installation, with typical assembly cycles of under 3 seconds, Avdel® blind fasteners can be installed by one operator with a wide range of tools to suit the production environment. These include robust hand tools (manual, pneumatic, hydro-pneumatic) semi-automated and fully automated assembly cells. The fasteners and tools combine to provide a blind fastening system suitable for numerous assembly applications in manufacturing, maintenance and repair work.

The Avdel® blind fasteners range incorporates the Breakstem and Speed Fastening® systems as well as Threaded Inserts and Sealing Plugs like the Avseal® II fastener.

Avdel® Lockbolts

For more demanding structural applications, Avdel® bolt-type fasteners (lockbolts) can be used. These are two piece assemblies consisting of a bolt and collar. They are not blind fasteners as access is required from both sides of the work piece to install the bolts and collars.

Avdel® Lockbolts provide a high strength, vibration resistant fastening solution with high, controlled clamp and fast installation. The market leading Avdelok® and Maxlok® fasteners provide a competitive fastening solution when high strength fixings and speed of assembly are required. The fasteners are TIR approved and easy to inspect for tampering meaning they are ideally suited to Automotive, Cargo and Construction industry applications.

For certain demanding applications where even higher strength fastenings are required the Avdel® Large Diameter Avdelok® fasteners provide the ultimate solution. Available in sizes from 13mm to 25mm (1/2" to 1") with tensile strength of over 300kN the LD Avdelok® fastener provides high-speed, effective fastening in heavy engineering applications.
